More than just the Leaning Tower!

Pisa is famous for its iconic Leaning Tower, but my visit with a friend reminded me that there's so much more to enjoy than just ticking off the famous sights.

Of course, we couldn't visit Pisa without taking all the classic photos pretending to hold up the Leaning Tower! We had great fun getting the angles just right, and as we walked past other tourists doing exactly the same thing, we'd high-five them. It was such a simple thing, but it made the whole experience even more fun!

We also decided to try out the electric scooters to get around the city. They were a brilliant way to explore, giving us the freedom to cover more ground and see a little more of Pisa without walking everywhere.

One of my favourite memories was hiring electric bikes for the day and cycling out towards the coast. We followed what I remember as an old railway track, enjoying the ride and seeing a different side of the area away from the usual tourist spots.

When we reached the coast, we stopped for a swim in the sea before hopping back on our bikes and cycling back through the beautiful poppy fields. It was such a lovely way to spend the day, mixing a little adventure with time to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Pisa gave us the famous landmarks, plenty of laughs and a completely different kind of adventure beyond the city itself.

My biggest takeaway? Don't just visit Pisa for the Leaning Tower. Get out and explore a little further — you might discover your own favourite memory along the way!

Would I recommend Pisa?

Absolutely! If you love a mix of famous sights, fun experiences and exploring at your own pace, Pisa is well worth considering. Go for the tower, stay for the laughs and leave room for a little adventure beyond the usual tourist trail.
