Three days in Iceland, packed with incredible food, stunning scenery and a few unforgettable experiences!
I spent three days exploring Iceland, and it was the perfect little adventure. The food was fantastic, but one thing that really sticks in my memory is the soup served inside a hollowed-out loaf of bread. Delicious, warming and perfect during a day exploring!
And speaking of warming up, there's something rather lovely about stopping for a hot chocolate in the middle of the afternoon while you're exploring somewhere new. Sometimes it's those little moments that become part of your favourite travel memories.
One of the highlights was taking the Golden Circle tour, which finished with a visit to an original hot spring where locals used to learn to swim. It was such a lovely way to experience a little of Iceland's history alongside its incredible landscapes.
Back in Reykjavik, I enjoyed exploring the city, including Rainbow Street, with its colourful surroundings and lovely atmosphere. The hop-on hop-off bus was also a great way to get around and visit different sights at my own pace.
Of course, I couldn't visit Iceland without trying to see the Northern Lights! I'd booked a cruise, but it was cancelled twice because of cloudy skies. Although I was disappointed not to get out on the water, I received a refund — and in the end, I saved myself a night on a bus searching for lights that might not appear anyway! Sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth.
My little takeaway? Iceland is a brilliant destination for a short break, with a mix of city exploring, incredible natural scenery, unique food and memorable experiences. Just remember that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so sightings are never guaranteed.
If Iceland is on your wish list, I'd definitely recommend giving it a look. Three days gave me a taste of what this amazing country has to offer — and plenty of reasons to want to explore more! 🧡
